The troop frequently goes camping (typically one trip per month). The patrols make their own menus and each patrol member is responsible for a portion of the expenses. This is a variable expense ranging between $10 - $15. Each Scout pays for food by patrol.
Additionally, each Scout is responsible for a share of the cost of each trip. For an average camping trip, the range is $10-$25 per Scout. About twice each year, the troop takes a major camping trip (e.g. Gettysburg, White-water rafting, canoeing). These trip range from $30-$75 per Scout.
The troop typically offers two summer camp opportunities each year. Subsidized by the Boy Scouts, the expense varies depending on the facility. One week at summer camp ranges from $225 - $300 / week
(2005 rates).
