Uniform Matters

The Boy Scout uniform is a tool with many edges. Whenever he wears his uniform it reminds a boy that he is a Scout and that people will expect him to act like one. His uniform is an outward sign that he believes in certain values and is willing to stand up for them.

His uniform gives him a reason to take pride in the way he looks, and in the badges and awards he displays that testify to his achievements in skills and leadership. His uniform gives him a feeling of belonging to his patrol and troop.

Troop 7 has their own neckerchief. This can be earned by the Scout by participating in a service project. We encourage this, if it is lost the replacement cost is $10.00. Only 1 free one per Scout.

Page 12-13 of the Boy Scout handbook gives more information on the actual uniform.

In Troop 7 we refer to Class "A" and Class "B" uniforms.

The Class "A" uniform consists of a khaki shirt (short or long sleeves), long or short scout pants, belt, neckerchief, slide, hat (optional) and appropriate patches for our troop and council. This is worn at Court of Honors, parades and other special events. Other items that can be worn with this uniform are: Order of the Arrow(OA) sash, merit badge sash, any BSA medals (e.g. religious awards), service year pins, etc.

The Class "B" uniform is as above but jeans or shorts can be worn. This is normal attire for troop/patrol meetings and camping trips. Although Class "B" is acceptable for troop/patrol meetings, scouts are encouraged to wear their Class "A" uniform and earn points during troop inspections.

In addition to the BSA catalogue uniforms and equipment can be purchased in the following store: Ramsey Outdoor.
